adrienne's tour diary for March 15, 2004
We met up with friends at the Club Deville and eventually got to Bigsby's around 10 or so. It was uncertain when we'd go on. Mr. Trouserpants were playing: 2 twin brothers and a DJ. I told one of the brothers that we were going on at midnight but as midnight neared, the Tpants kept going. Chris loaded his drums onstage at five til', caught Tpants by surprise or so I heard. A young lady named Died...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

3/15/04 Chris Groves is behind the wheel directing us to Austin. The scenery has become green, at last. We ate breakfast at a Waffle House just a few minutes ago, sat at the bar and watched the cooking, frying, scrambling. The only disappointment was that they had air hand dryers in the bathrooms, not paper towels. Last night was a lot of fun, especially after the 10-hour drive and sudden realiza...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Plains plains and more plains. That was today's drive. All 10 hours of it. At the Texas border, we realized that we forgot about the time change. Whoops. It makes us later to the show than planned, but not too late to play. The Gypsy Tea Room is run very professionally by a bunch of very cheery people. They help us unload our stuff, put it on dollies, and get it up on stage. No later than ...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

3/12/04 This motel boasts "no train noise" in their AAA ad and also on the marquee outside, but we could hear it. This motel also advertises, in the same places: "Martians Welcome" but everyone looks human. Woke up at 9:30, put more medicine in my eyes, and slept until 10:30. We climbed down a hillside to the "Denny's adjacent" around noon and finally ate breakfast. When we got back to Rm. 104 the...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Our well-intentioned plans of visiting the Grand Canyon yesterday were dashed by our inability to get out of bed. Instead, we got a late start, and perused downtown historic Flagstaff. The drive from Flagstaff to Albuquerque is absolutely gorgeous. Weird red mountains jut out of nowhere. Little replicas of what I imagine look like the Grand Canyon remind me that we're driving in what was proba...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

3/11/04 I have pinkeye in both eyes. I look like I've been crying for ten hours straight. Medicine: work now. Woke up on the floor in front of a Nintendo in Jonathan's house that he shares with his grandma. One eye was stuck shut. The eye opened up in the shower. I am glad that I can sleep on the floor. I am sure now that I can sleep anywhere if my eyes are glued shut. We walked the very wide s...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

My dad calls at 8:30am to wish me a happy birthday. i went to bed at 3am. yes, happy birthday. jonathan works at a cafe with free wi-fi, which gets everyone a little too excited. i guess that's the san francisco in us. we don't have to be in Phoenix until 9, so most of the day is spent at the cafe, reading and writing emails, looking at the new collections, and getting my eyes to open. spe...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

adrienne's tour diary for March 10, 2004
3/10 I woke up at 6 am and my left eye was glued shut. It opened back up with some persuasion. Pink. Showed Dan's mom, who's an elementary school principal, and she verified that it was indeed pink eye, which I was surprised to never have contracted as a junior high eyeliner addict and am disappointed to have now. Dan dropped me off at a walk-in clinic and went back to his mom's to pack up the van...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

i'm currently sitting in a parking lot. we're in upland, which is where dan grew up. they call this area the 'Inland Empire'. Personally, i don't think i'd like to be emperor here. but here we are, sitting in a van in the parking lot of an office building with blue mirrored glass. adrienne is inside, trying to find out why one of her eyes is swollen and red. we are headed to tucson today. w...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

3/9 Los Angeles is homeostasis, no need for a jacket or socks. My left eye started to itch. Tim took Chris and I to breakfast at The Brite Spot and Laurel met us there. Then I took a nap upstairs with Dora. Went to Caf?? Tropical with my friend Julie who lives in Long Beach now, but we both once lived in Fresno, played on the JV tennis team. We talked and snacked with Laurel until heading to Sea L...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.
