March 9, 2004 - Sea Level Records - Los Angeles, CA
Oh man, is the weather great down here! breakfast at the brite spot is followed by some reading and relaxing in the sunshine. adrienne and i take what is to be trip #1 to the guitar center so i can get a new microphone. we run into jason, a very nice fellow from midnight movies, whose show i had seen at noisepop last week. they will also be playing in austin, but are flying. i'm really excited for SXSW. more and more, it's sounding like indie summer camp. anne and nancy wilson's hand prints are in the sidewalk outside the guitar center. sometimes people in hollywood get weird ideas.
our show of the day is an in-store performance at Sea Level Records in Echo Park. It's a neat little record store that has the same kind of feel as Aquarius up in San Francisco. As we unload everything, it becomes apparent that I have lost my case of pedals and cords and other bass-essories. I must have lost track of it in the panic to get off the stage yesterday. Bummer.but a quick trip back to ye olde guitar center and most of the stuff has been replaced. so no tears cried. And Laurel brought me an even cooler little case to put all of my stuff (thanks laurel!) One day we will take you on the road with us and make you the celebrity roadie you've always dreamed of becoming.
tracing the events of the past several hours, i realize what is probably obvious to the reader ' keanu reeves stole my equipment. why else would he have 'conveniently' shown up so early in the evening? and why else would he have left without even saying 'hello'? frankly, i'm a bit tired of dealing with his constant cries for attention. it reminds me of the time when winona ryder was trying to show me how cool she was by lifting stuff from saks. like i care. if either of you are reading this, i really wish that you would realize that i like you for who you are. so stop the insanity, okay?
