October 18, 2004 - Bottom of the Hill - San Francisco, CA

Our plane from JFK was delayed and the movie (The Terminal) was awful, so it was a long ride home. Plus, we had to pay for our food on board the 737, $4 for mixed nuts and $8 for 6 slices of cheese, some crackers, and 10 tiny grapes. Still, there was little turbulence, which made it a good flight overall, as not once did I fear for my life at 37,000 feet or consider asking the pilot to just land the thing in Utah. We got into SFO around 1 a.m., took the tram to Park SFO (that CG had a coupon for), and then drove home. I was a robot at work, spent my lunch at the drugstore reading greeting cards. At 5 I left the building, and at 6:30 we loaded the gear into CW's van, headed to the Bottom. After sound check we realized we were all starving, but we didn't have time to get food before playing. I had a few beer appetizers and CG had saved the almonds (which he hates) from his Delta Airlines mixed nuts so he gave those to Dan and I. It was good to play using our own stuff again, especially for CW on his p.h.a. drum seat. CG picked up burritos at El Castillito afterwards...we ate outside on the patio with Jason & Nik & Eric and heard "eyes without a face." It was generally agreed that eyes without a face is better than face without eyes. The Ocean Blue played the hits that took me back to the early Monday ams in high school, watching 120 Minutes, putting my fave videos onto the Betamax. Mai showed the band her photo with the singer & bass player from the Tower Records in West Covina over 10 years ago. Everyone looked the same.
