May 12, 2005 - Beavers Bar - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK
Slept in on Thursday and took advantage of the time to do some much needed laundry. CW left with Andy and Malcolm to play lawn bowls at Eaton Park and I hung out at the house with Shoma and her friend Anna. Dan returned from the laundromat and we drove to park to meet up with the lawn bowlers. CG had disappeared into town and reappeared later to commandeer us to Hinckley for our debut at the Beaver's Bar.
Finding the BBar was a challenge so Kirk met us at the train station, where Black Fish had just arrived via train, to guide us back to the very Americanesque establishment. Black Fish's singer/guitarist's legs moved rapidly under the black light with the blackdrop of NYC and the Statue of Liberty behind.
After the show I called Ellen and she guided us up the M1 towards Nottinghham, where we learned that Robin Hood's image is no longer the symbol of the city, and we got to Ellen and Matthew's five minutes before the kebab shop across the street closed down. I hurriedly ordered dal, lamb and chicken curry with naan, as we hadn't eaten since leaving Norwich. There was a party going on at Ellen & Matthew's house, where CG and CW stayed the night, and Dan and I were taken over to George's house, where George kindly lent us his bedroom and we passed out after watching speed dating on TV with Caroline and William. One of the speed daters, when asked to describe what he looks for in a woman, said, "She must have teeth."
