May 5, 2005 - Moles - Bath, UK
We love the Waitrose car park here so much that we parked the van at 1:30 and then exited the car park and re-entered at 4. Spent the day walking between white stone buildings, experiencing a boring garden off the Circus, and eating at the Pig & Fiddle in the sun. We found Moles when we were walking around and drove our van there just after 6 for the sound check and some dinner. We walked around some more, delighting in the charming alleyways, and played two rounds of table football.
The show was a lot of fun, beginning with Gay Dogs, whose lyrics are very funny. Hooker went on next and were amazing. Much to my delight there was dancing after the set and the DJ, who it turns out is planning a move to San Francisco in October, played the Sultans of Ping's "Where's Me Jumper?" We danced to that and also to some other tunes--nice way to finish out the evening. Gareth, Go Ape's promoter, and the DJ hopped in the van and guided us to Bristol, where we slept at Gareth's house after discussing politics (Tony Blair won again).
Before we fell asleep in the front room, CW turned on a string of rainbow lights, and I think they were on all night.
