April 10, 2006 - Spaceland - Los Angeles, CA

The fireplace was dark when I woke up, but there was some light coming in through the patio. I was delighted to find that Smart Start cereal was a breakfast option--thanks to Michelle & Dave. I'm addicted to cereal and we rarely encounter it on the road.

G was already awake, Dan was gone, and W emerged from his sleeping bag cocoon to get coffee with Dave and G. At 2 pm G and I went to Little Radio with Dave and to be interviewed on the air. The Little Radio space is huge and surrounded by places that sell wholesale fruit in downtown LA. I eyed a Costco size bag of pretzels but forgot to ask if I could have some.

We ate dinner at Leela Thai next to Spaceland where we were joined by my youngest brother, Tom, and his friends Gabe and Patrick. They finished up the magic string beans before soundcheck. The magic string beans really worked their magic too, though there were some touch and go moments. You have to believe in the beans for them to work 100%.

I made eye contact with Laurel during the set and noted someone in a tank top near the front of the stage. Love the dancing--thank you. The rest of the evening went by in about 5 minutes. Mark came and we made plans for a future BBQ at Judy's. Youth Group were beautiful. Said hello to Freddy, not sure if he recalls dancing at the lesbian bar with G and I at SXSW. After Robocop Kraus rocked, I drove the van to Burrito King on Sunset and bought us all, well, burritos, before we cruised by Forest Lawn by accident and ultimately arrived at Laurel's for the after party.
