adrienne's tour diary for October 25, 2006
I love Chelmsford. We had a nice meal at Ancient Lights around 4 pm and then walked through the town. Yes, we went to Starbucks, since they have the T-Mobile hot spot and Starbucks is everywhere in the UK. We checked email, had some hot beverages, and watched the rain come down outside. It wasn't a strong rain but I used the giant umbrella I bought in an Islington Woolworths anyway. Bendigo Tenny...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Woke up early this morning to a day that the weatherman had accurately forecast as "dismal". Rain followed us down the motorway from Birmingham, through the horrible traffic near the London orbital that delayed our arrival from Manchester by a couple of hours last week. We arrived in Chelmsford, just northeast of London, with some time to spare, so we were able to grab a nice lunch and look arou...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

chrisg's tour diary for October 24, 2006
On Saturday, we thought we only had one more show to go, as our Birmingham show had been cancelled. The plan was to spend the next two days in London, head to Chelmsford for our last show, and then to Heathrow to catch our plane. Adrienne had scored some cheap rooms on priceline for us, so on Monday morning, I woke from my very own bed and headed down to the hotel's gym. If only I had known it ...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

Scruffy Murphys appears to be made entirely of wood, but it's actually the cornerstone of a modern building in downtown(?) Birmingham. The new Ford Transit Torneo is awesome, with more space, windows, and radio speakers than the splitter we parted ways with on Scrubbs Lane Sunday evening. Rich from Elmira Landmine told us how he went to San Diego last year and was mugged by two guys who kept aski...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Liam Gallagher was working out at the Marriott gym. He ran on the treadmill and I ellipticalled behind him to the right. Chris G identified Mr. Gallagher, though he was wearing a hoodie with the hood up. He also wore a weight vest. Or perhaps it was a bulletproof vest. We went to the British Museum and saw some things that Captain Cook brought back from Hawaii on one of his voyages. The British M...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Sheetal made us egg scramble for breakfast as the sun came and went through their large living room window at the New River Village. The development is brand new and looks, as Jonathan described, like the model rooms displayed at Ikea. It's like a few buildings from Sweden exist in Hornsey. After brunch we headed out into the rain to a wine bar in Crouch End around noon for a mid-day drink to keep...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

Had the pleasure this morning of tooling around Angel, in Islington. Tons of nice-looking restaurants and bars and shops. Reminds me of a cross between Fillmore and Valencia streets back at home. Bought a couple of gifts for people, then met up with cw and took the van up to Crouch End to get Dan and Adrienne. I'm finally starting to get the hang of driving in this town, which feels like an ac...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

adrienne's tour diary for October 20, 2006
If we'd known that it would take us 6.5 hours to drive from Manchester to London, we probably wouldn't have stopped at the 'Welcome Break' for a half hour to discover and declare 'Wimpy' burgers as best avoided in the future. Last year we didn't have a map of London and were always issuing SOS cell phone calls for last minute directions. So this time I bought a London AtoZ map from the travel shop...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.

chrisg's tour diary for October 19, 2006
Yesterday, the sun came out for the first time since last week. Hurray!! We couldn't tell at the time of check-in, but our travelodge was right near the quayside of the tyne river. I had to wake up early to move the van and avoid a ticket, but in turn was rewarded with a really beautiful walk through town. Our show in Leeds fell through, then was resuscitated, then fell through again, so...read the rest of this entry and more in chrisg's diary.

adrienne's tour diary for October 18, 2006
After checking out of the hotel we grabbed some food in Newcastle. I went to Subway and the sandwiches are slightly different here than in the US. I got 'sweet onion' sauce on my 'veggie delight' and it was tasty! But the post-Subway 'why did I eat that?' is an international phenomena. We got to Mike's in the late afternoon and met up with him for dinner near Manchester Uni. in Rusholme then kept...read the rest of this entry and more in adrienne's diary.
